I've taken a very early retirement, thanks to my husband, and spend way too much time on the computer. Well, that is, when I'm not volunteering for some activity between church, sorority, or the local hospital. I also do mission work in Haiti at least annually and other places on occasion.

"I'm so happy to hear that you made it back home safely! I've been hoping to hear from you : ) I haven't been invited to any new campaigns recently, but I think there have been 2 or 3 offered since you left. (Starbucks, Neutrogena, and ?) Still no chance to use a golden key though - at least for me, anyway. Happy Wednesday : )"

"Hey there Morgan, I'm home. It just once again has instilled in me how absolutely blessed we are to live where we do and have the support systems we have in place. Everything here may not be peachy, but even the homeless have access to food and a place to sleep if they seek it out. I feel so blessed to be back in the land of hot showers and flush toilets. Any new campaigns I've missed. I'm still searching for the elusive "gold key campaign". :>)"

"I am sorry you felt like you were slammed by my perspective. I still feel as there is so much more we should be doing as a community to fix what needs fixed here in our own country. Everyone acts fast and is quick to respond when its a nation or two away yet when we're struck with natural disasters and homelessness its as if no one knows how to respond to a crisis. Like I stated before I am dumbfounded at the lack of help and charitable nature for families here in America."

"The problem I have is that people assume because America is wealthier than many other countries that they do more when in fact I bawled in August when I was in Reno, Nevada at the tent cities they have formed there. There are families living in tent cities all over America and they seem to go unnoticed. We bought some food for a couple of the families in Reno, but that doesn't even put a dent in the problem. I am disabled and yet I tried to help, so there has to be other people out there willing to, but possibly they aren't aware there is a serious homeless problem here, not just homeless adults but homeless families. Sso much money is going to help other countries and I am dumbfounded as to why people here turn a blind eye to the serious problems right here in our backyard."

"Well Monica, I have done mission work in the US. I worked both Katrina and Rita, so I'm not sure about your comment about guessing Americans don't need help. We're lucky enough to have multiple government programs to help, too. Displaced but not living on the street without food. Thank GOD for America. So, not knowing you, I feel like I just got slammed for going on a mission trip to Haiti by a complete stranger in response to a post that was to someone else. "

"Well except for the people in New Orleans. Many of them are still displaced and homeless. I guess people don't think Americans need the help as much as Haitians yet they do. What are the Gold Key Campaigns? Have you thought about doing mission work in the US? How does one go about it, I would like to help Americans."

"Hey! Good luck finding a gold key campaign. One of these days, maybe one will pop up. My city is still covered in snow from the 'blizzard' and another storm is on the way. I'm not complaining though - the snow makes everything look so pretty. It takes a lot of heart to do what you are planning to do on your trip. There should be more people like you! I look foward to hearing from you upon your safe return : ) "

"Greetings Morgan. Just popping through to say hello. I'm still searching for the mysterious and illusive gold key campaign. However, some day.................... I'm all packed and ready to go. I take off early Wednesday. The focus of our trip has changed multiple times but the fact remains that we'll do what they need us to do when we get down there. Hope all is warm and dry in your neck of the woods (wishful thinking, I know). TTYL, like next month when I get back to our country with wonderful food and running water. We just don't know how blessed we are to have been born in the US of A !!! "
