Zipcar Makes Life Easier

Three years ago I made the decision to get rid of my car and go green. I'm talking about green in terms of being both environmentally conscious as well as saving tons of money. I'm fortunate to live in San Francisco where I can depend on public transportation, cabs and the occasional rental car. That's where Zipcar comes in. I love being able to gain access to wheels whenever I need them since Zipcar has several cars and various models to choose from. I've also found that their customer service is helpful whenever you need them although you may have to wait on hold for a while. Zipcar has been a lifesaver for me on many occasions and made my life so much easier. The company is always throwing parties for members, which just shows how much they appreciate their customers. view more

This is a great idea. At first I was a little hesitant to get involved, but it's not a bad idea to just sign up for it, and then when you do need a car, you have one available. If you consider the ultimate costs of having a car, which can only depreciate in value, it is worth it. It can seem a little pricey if this isn't considered. Overall clean and convenient. view more

So convenient!

My brother was moving in DC and he didn't have a car. So a friend suggested Zipcar and it was one of the smoothest moves ever. We had the car for the day and it was so much more convenient than having to rent a car through a traditional company. view more

Zipping Through

My friend and I recently rented a zipcar for a weekend excursion. Heard about Zipcar through multiple advertisements within our area. Zipcar is convenient and easy to book online. An area locator indicates nearby cars by their make/model. Once the reservation was made, we were able to pick up our Zipcar at a nearby car garage. Because everything is automated through the actual Zipcard itself, it's quite important not to lose the card (as the keys remain in the vehicle at all times). It was great having a rental car at a moments notice without all the hassle. Zipcar offers a great insurance plan in addition to tolls/gas included in the cost of rental. Great fun and very convenient. view more

Zipping through the "Burgh" in Zipcars!

I started seeing Zipcars pop up around Pittsburgh a few years back and I thought it was a wonderful idea! My friend of 40 years old, has NEVER had his drivers license. He never need one, he said. But now, he sees a need. He and his roommate hold many functions at their home and the ability to bring home lots of items from the grocery store for parties or go to Ikea to get furniture and shelves is very limited if your riding a city bus. They put a Zipcar in one block from his house. Now he and his roommate save a few bucks and once a week rents the Zipcar to do all their grocery shopping or house shopping and laundry needs. And now he also takes his mother to the store too because her older age is keeping her from walking up and down the hill she lives on to get to the busway. His one big complaint about having a license was having to deal with the expenses that came along with a car...the repairs, insurance, parking permits, etc. Now he doesn't have to worry because Zipcar takes care of it all! view more

When I lived in the Boston area, I was a Zipcar member for several years before I purchased a car. Considering the hourly charge includes the vehicle, insurance, and gas, it is a great deal for those who don't want the hassle of owning a car (and finding parking in a densely populated area!). view more
