WOW, a FANtastical Place

I started World of Warcraft before it's first expansion, The Burning Crusade. Though I haven't had the time to play it much these past two years I know I will go back. It was such an amazing world to be in, so much fun. I met great people to quest with and explored through breathtaking scenery. It was easy to lose yourself in the fantasy world. view more

World of Warcraft review

Possibly one of the most famous games of electronic gaming history, World of Warcraft set a new standard in the MMORPG arena. Busting the bag at 12 million subscribers at one time, Blizzard has designed an amazing game. Based upon the famous Warcraft strategy series, WoW continues the storyline even further. Take on the form of numerous creatures in the Warcraft series to fight your way to epic battles, massive pvp fights, epic gear, and detailed mounts. WoW allows you to play a character that grows and levels as you play. You learn new spells and attacks as you discover the massive world of Azeroth. Details in this game are not what one would call lifelike, but they give a good sense of some realism while someone would still go to it 5 years from now and enjoy it. The game is a massive multiplayer online game, meaning solo-offline play is not an option. The fee is $15 per month (cheaper if you buy a longer subscription) on top of the price of the game and expansions. The game will easily keep a person who enjoys this genre for a LONG time (I held a continuous subscription myself for over 4 years and honestly played at least 3 times a week for those 4 years). You can play this game with friends anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection. This makes it a fun socialization tool as well. The only drawback I have to this game is it has lost some of it's original "zing." I miss the difficulty of the original dungeons and the challenge of leveling a character. The game is still fun and entertaining, but the vanilla WoW players going back may find it slightly dull. I would still recommend this game to those looking for an entertaining game that keeps you busy and has a decent social factor to it. view more

So addicting...

I didn't start playing World of Warcraft until Burning Crusade. I never knew much about it before then and thought it was just some game "nerds" played. Then I got in a relationship with a guy who had been playing since vanilla. Once I started playing I was hooked. Now I play everyday around 10 hours a day (LOL) because due to health reasons Im not working.
Worse part is when the boyfriend gets home from work... I HAVE TO GIVE THE PC UP :( view more

Very good online game

I have been playing WoW since vanilla. There are numerous expansions but to be honest I enjoyed int more when it was just the original. I like to RP and play on a RP server, though it is getting harder to find RP events. I find it has become so easy to level a toon and there is less challenge or reason to join a guild. I still would recommend this game to others. view more

The greatest game ever, or was at least

I have to admit that when World of Warcraft was first released, I was entirely addicted. I would neglect chores, eat crappy food just so I could login, and spend my days at work creating spreadsheets on gear I wanted, raid compositions, and talent specs. Spending a couple years single I was able to put in more time than anyone put into a game. I was in a top guild on my server and never felt better!
Not long after, I started dating my (now) wife. I got away from the game about a year before Cataclysm came out. Coming back to the game due to my enabler friends, I really enjoyed the game as a whole. What I noticed however, is that a ton was soloable. The game went from intense 40-man raids to 10 and 20 man raids where PUGs were able to complete end-game content. This was somewhat disheartening as I really wanted to have that challenge that there was when I originally played. Wearing full Tier 2 or Tier 3 gear was amazing! People knew who you were when you had that gear and realized the accomplishments you reached. Coming back I found that people could PUG their way to end-game gear (minus a few pieces but for tiered armor it wasn't terribly difficult). At this point I decided to sadly hang up my WoW-account for good.
It was an amazing ride and I would still recommend the game to anyone who wants an extremely polished game. So many people rush to the top, not realizing that half the fun is the ride TO the top. Read quests, talk to NPCs, and don't worry about the "best" build. Right now, anyone can solo to the top level. Half the fun is getting to the top levels, then the fun begins where you get to visit older content and destroy what used to be a challenge for you! view more

LOVE LOVE LOVE... sorta

I have been playing this for years with some interesting results. Lots of fun, made many good friends some of which have become real life friends, too. Its an awesome game, full of lore and interesting objectives. The expansions keep coming and I level up my toons, but I have not been playing it with the same fervor these days. I guess its getting a little old after 7 or so years at it. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys online games. The fee of $15 a month is a small price to pay for the amount of entertainment that it offers. view more

Hard to keep up

I started playing this game on my PC before there were any expansions. I loved it. But after a while, I would cancel my subscription and live without WoW. When I came back to play again, things had changed and my player's abilities had been reset. It is difficult to keep track of all the changes to this game since they happen every week unless you were to never stop playing it. view more

Great fun!

My boyfriend introduced me to WOW 3 years ago and boy am I ever glad he did. At the time we were friends and of course he was a lot higher level than me so the game wasn't as fun since no one I know that plays is my level but making friends back in the day is so easy so you can level together! Now making a new character is a lot easier to level than 3 years ago. The quests are pretty much dummy proof now. Don't have to look too hard to get quests done. It's a fun game to play daily since there are things that you can do once a day everyday to achieve something amazing for you to use while your playing or to gain a level. I definitely recommend this game.WOW offers SO much more than the free online games that words can't explain. Just try it and I'm sure that you will enjoy it. view more

love this game

I have been playing this game for 2 years and it is very fun and exciting. I have several toons but have the most fun playing my mage. I am in a great guild that is very social and we play and chat most evenings. Together we are learning and having fun at the same time. I pay every 6 months and so the price is very cheap for the amount of entertainment I get from it. view more

Still a great concept, just too big now

I used to play wow all the time. The game is still really fun to play and has a great concept, however there are way too many people playing now, the game is just too large for any normal computer to properly play it, and there are now too many people being dishonest now that the game is so popular. Sad but true. view more

Going downhill fast

I played World of Warcraft for 5 years. In that time my account was hacked twice while my account was Frozen (I had no prepaid play time available). I was told that someone put a fake play time card on my account and proceeded to do things against the TOS. The first time it took over 6 weeks to get my account fully restored. The second time I had to call blizzard to get my password reset. They restored everything to me EXCEPT my password. The game play is going downhill. You get a group to start whining about WOW and they will modify the game to please those few whiners. Players that have played for years are now started to leave the game. Beware blizzard is going down hill fast. view more

Over it...

I played WoW for several years, from Vanilla WoW through Cataclysm. I must say, each expansion got a bit better, but with so many nerfs and game changes it just got old. I seriously got tired of having to rebuild my talent tree with nearly every patch, and then they morphed the way stats were used. I understand that changes are inevitable, but too much is enough. I moved on to Rift. view more

Expansions killed the game

My husband got me started on WoW back before Burning Crusade was even a thought and we both got addicted to it. It used to be fun and challenging. We both loved the social aspect of the game and met some great people while playing. However with each expansion it seems the game lost many of the aspects the original players loved about it. The original game wasn't completely about what you did once you hit 60...it was the journey there that counted. Now a player is only as good as their gear and any moron can appear godly. Skill has little place in the game now. We both stopped playing 3 years ago and have almost no urge to go back. Also I won't pay $15 a month for a game that just frustrates me when I don't have what I feel is enough time to justify the price. If you want to sit in front of your computer for hours upon hours doing mind numbingly repetitive tasks with a bunch of whiny teenagers then maybe this is your game. view more

World of Warcraft is my favorite game

World of Warcraft is a PC game played by millions of people. Players complete quests in order to gain experience and advance in level. I've been playing World of Warcraft for 4 years now, and one of the things that make this game so special is the ability to interact with other players to complete objectives. Although the game requires you to pay a monthly subscription, the money is well worth it, because Blizzard Entertainment frequently releases patches with new content. In WoW the world is always evolving, and there's always something diffeernt to do. This game is very addictive, but I love it! view more

This game is a winner!

I've been playing this game off and on for at least 5 or 6 years now. The reason I keep coming back to it is that unlike other video games there's really no way to "beat the game". Because it's online, you can meet people through the game and make it a social event if you enjoy that. If not, the game provides plenty of solo game playing things to do as well. The graphics are the best I've seen and the game creators make big changes to the game world every 6-12 months which is nice for people who play it day-in and day-out and might get easily bored. Warning though: it can be highly addictive. Monthly subscription is decent at $14.95, about the same as a Netflix subscription, and you can pay more month's at a time for discounted rates. view more

Game addiction

I have played this game since it came out over 6 years ago. Just recently took a break from it and how weird that is!
At first I had no clue what this whole thing was about until my husband introduced me to it. We had 1 computer in the house and 2 full time players. We ended up getting another computer so we could both play at the same time.
It's a fun game, my son loves it as well. Hard to believe how many hours I put in to it. Too bad I didn't get paid for it! :P
I've met lots of people thru the game, since it's a multi-player game. You can talk over a program called vent and make things a lot easier when you are doing group raids and such. view more

Junkie!

I used to have a boyfriend who played this game constantly and I HATED it... thought it was the dumbest thing ever.... until he got me to play. ADDICTION!!! It is VERY VERY addicting to play. There is so many things to do and styles to play. You can be a hardcore or casual gamer and it is fun either way! It does suck that you have to pay a monthly fee to play because you do feel a little ripped off when you don't have time to play, but otherwise it is the best game ever! Also lately it is getting even better! A lot of the changes they recently made when cataclysm came out were confusing at first since I have played since the classic version, but as I play more I am realizing that the changes are all for the better. Forget playstation & xbox, this game blows everything else out of the water! view more

WOW indeed

A year and a half ago if you'd ask me if I'd spend money every month to play a game I'd tell you to get lost. I mean WTH? Buy the game and -then- pay to play it? I'll stick with my DIablo II or Fable if I need that kinda thing thank you very much.
However this has changed. I can now see why WOW is so popular. Not only is there SO much content in the game, but there are events and happenings all year round that change it up for you. They also are constantly trying to make it better and changing things here and there (though some changes I could live without) to improve all aspects of the game. Now if you'd ask me to pay a monthly fee to play WOW I'd tell you no need, I've already paid 6 months down. view more

Fun game....until you get hacked

Two years ago if you had asked if WOW was the best game out there, I would have easily replied "yes". Now, not so much. Don't get me wrong. The game is outrageously fun and great to play. But that is where the good stuff ends.
First you have the monthly payments...even though you spent all the money buying all the expansions. Then there is the countless downtime and glitches due to maintenance gone wrong. And half the time when a glitch keeps you from logging in, Blizzard (owners of WOW) blame it on your computer, which is bull crap. And lets not forget about the hackers. Yes...the hackers that hack your account, sell off all your stuff and then transfer your gold to another account, just so they can turn around sell the gold to the jerks who don't want to play the game the right way.
WOW also has a tendency of dumbing down stuff in game just because people whine too much. Which gets annoying. I don't want everything handed to me on a silver platter. That makes the game too easy. Another thing that annoys me is the people....the people can be complete idiots and jerks.
Even after all that junk, I would still recommend the game...because it is fun. view more

I enjoy it!

I've started playing about 1-2 months ago, my friend (yes we are 2 girls!) keep saying me ''we could play together, we could play together'' so I finally try it! (she played since 7-8 years now !)
I'm very satisfied, the game is fun, there's A LOT of things to do, outside the solo playing were you just smash some creatures all over the map.
We play sometimes 4-5 friends together and this is really fun!
I'm not addict trough, I play 1-2 times a week when I have some free time, it relax me when I came home after the job ^^
And when you pay 6 months together you save a little !
The only negative point at this moment is that all new players have to pay for ALL the expensions and the game time so It cost a lot at first. view more

Wouldn't recommend World of Warcraft..

About six months ago I purchased WoW for the PC due to influence from a close friend. I had the money for it, and it had good graphics, and since so many people play it, I had to try it.
The first downfall to this game is obviously the monthly payments. By paying every month, you're forced to "get your moneys worth" which can lead to addiction. Also, to get full access to the game you have to purchase (what is now 3) expansion packs valuing around $40 each, fairly regularly. Another downfall to WoW is that it's very repetitive. Go here, go there, kill that, and come back. That's all it is, and grinding for gear isn't fun either, because you'll have to run the same instance, or what-have-you several times before you get the gear you want.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this to ANYONE, especially people who already play video games as it is very easy to get addicted, waste your money, and effect your social life. On that note, anyone who wants to buy WoW with the "Burning Crusade" expansion pack and a level 42 orc hunter can email me at: me@bradllewellyn.com view more
