Next big series?? It's interesting how there's sooo many of these series books! It's hard to keep up! I heard about this series from fleurdeforce on YouTube and will be checking it out shortly after I finished my other series-pretty little liars. Worst Book EVER! When I read the summary of the book after getting a rec from my librarian I was really excited to start reading it. I love the concept behind it, but the author did a HORRIBLE job at expanding on it in an intelligent way. I literally felt like I was reading a book written BY a ten year old. The book is insanely repetitive (When Tally was trying to talk about of uglies and pretties and Shay kept incessantly saying she wanted to ride the hoverboard?? I felt like ripping my hair out, so annoying!!!) Honestly, I can't even begin to say how boring and repetitive this book was. I abide by the "50 page rule" and with this book I barely made it there. I even skipped ahead chapters to see if there was anything interesting, anything about the actual process of turning pretty.... any type of sci-fi futuristic parts, but nothing!! Also, the part with the machine just SO conveniently shooting a mask out? LAME! ... and the part with the bungee jacket?? ugh!!! I HATE THIS BOOK!!! view more	Nov 3, 2011	16

Don't Judge a Book by its cover Teen books are so much better now that I am not one. I saw these books at the store, and I said to myself, great a book where they are judging others by looks. I didn't want to read it at all. Then, I gave in because I had read others reviews about it. Don't judge a book by its cover applies here totally. I loved this book. Awesome book about the obsession of outs... This was an awesome book. I have to say, at first when my teacher assigned me this book, I was thinking "Aw man its freaking long!" But its long for a reason. Scott Westerfeld has a very creative mind that allows us to see Tally's point of view clearly. I also think Scott Westerfeld wrote this book to show our generation is obsessed with outside beauty. Overall, nicely writtened book and great series. view more	Dec 8, 2010	46

What's Pretty and Special in the Uglies ... I remember seeing the first book of this series on a shelf in my library, when I use to live in the city. Immediately what grabbed me was the beautiful person on the cover. When I began to read the story about a world obsessed with beauty and physical assimilation, it was kind of ironic. I loved this series, with it's cutting edge story telling about a culture highly focused on appearances, futuristic and sharp technology, and not to mention a solid take about all the sides of government and communities. As a side note, I found it highly amusing that at the end of each book, the last word of the book is the title of the next book in the series. Very clever. view more	Aug 5, 2010	78
Uglies are beautiful!!! These & the Twilight Saga are my favorite book series of all times! Scott Westerfield is brilliant and his take on the future is amazing! It really makes you think about the future and what it will be like. The story line is brilliant and you can relate to the characters no matter what your opinion on the society is. I love how the main character challenges the norm and doesn't want to be almost like a robot and perfect in every way. You must read these books! Unique The Uglies book and series is quite unique. It can deffinately be said that the story created for this has never been told. While some concepts are weird the basic message is strong. Interesting Sci-fi After having several people recommend that I read this series I finally caved. I really liked the world Scott Westerfield creates and all the technology. I thought he had some interesting messages concerning a world obsessed with thiness and sameness. I also liked that it wasn't super sappy (like twilight).
