Be resourceful!

Spending money on containers for your pantry is a waste you can easy avoid. I got a big bulk bag of rice but how do you keep stored for a long time?I just started to save the big plastic juice jugs and put all my rice in them.Every peanut butter plastic jar is great for a container .I prefer the plastic jars because if I get clumsy I would not cause some mess by breaking the jar :) but glass is fine too.All my pasta is chilling pretty in glass jars,everything is airtight so no salt or sugar turned in a rock from humidity. I make lunch for my hubby so small reused baby food jars are great containers for a dressing (lettuce will stay nice and crisp if you don't add the dressing,you don't want a marinated salad a few hours later).I saved smaller juice bottles that I use to fill them with nice home brewed tea and put them in my hubby's lunchbox .He already got used to bringing back home all the containers to be reused. I came from a country where we had very little so we got very crafty and resourceful in reusing so before putting something in the trash think if you can give it a new ,,life`` :) view more

Recycle

I like to recycle too. We have alot of cans, paper, and etc. We live in the country and don't have curb side pickup. We have to go about 45 minutes to deliver. So my tips is to recycle as a whole family and we use bins or large trash cans to put our stuff in and we all take it on the same day and make 1 trip every so often. We used chalkboard paint to paint a small area on the cans and the kids can label them with chalk. view more

Love Recylcling

I love recycling too. However, my town does not have curbside recycling either. You have to check around but you can donate your recyclables and help out area schools and others. My local humane society takes aluminum cans and an elementary school in my neighborhood takes newspapers and glass. The high school takes old magazines. I'm not only recycling but helping out my neighborhood children and animals too. view more

Just Do It!

In our area, the city recently gave every home a new big "trash" bin for recyclables. It's so easy and so much of what we use is recyclable. We need to take care of the Earth so that our children it will still be here for our children. view more

Just Recycle

I've always tried to recycle but was always inconsistant. Then, I looked to see if I could get one of the blue bins at my apartment that they give to individual homes. Through the City of Dallas' website, I found that they have a program called "Too Good to Throw Away." The city has large blue dumpsters around the city for people to put their recycling in. The best part is that you don't have to seperate it. I've found that I hardly have any trash now and most of the stuff is reusable. view more
