Adventure in my Mailbox

About two months ago, I happened across the PostCrossings.com website and was instantly fascinated. Membership is free and participation requires one to simply signs up to send a postcard to a stranger assigned at random. In response, another random stranger returns the favor. Receipt of postcards is logged via the PostCrossings website and the number of cards you exchange is governed by you. The more you send, the more you receive! In two months, I have exchanged cards with people on four continents and in twenty-two countries. I have received images of historical monuments, gorgeous landscapes, beautiful artworks, famous (and infamous) people, local kitsch, and one correspondant's travel camper. People often post images of the cards they receive and browsing them reveals not only spectacular commercial photographs but a whole host of very talented artists creating unique and inspired ephemera. PostCrossings revived my interest in my long-abandoned stamp collection which I am now happily sharing with my son. I highly recommend PostCrossings; every trip to the mailbox is an adventure! Brilliant!

This website is great! I've gotten postcards from all over the world, and, while I'm not sure what I plan on doing with them in the long run, right now they make for excellent wall decorations. :D Mailing out of the US can get pricey, but it's worth it to me. If you don't want to pay international postage, you can always edit your settings so that you only mail within your country. They've thought of everything! view more

What a fantastic site, I have been a member for several years. It is great, great, and great. I am trying to figue out what to do with the cards, most likely will make a scrap book. I learned about it on BZZScapes and by far, it is the best thing I have found. view more
