The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, five of his solo studio albums have become some of the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). glove earrings One year for christmas my two boys surprised me with a pair of white sparkly gloved shaped earrings. They were pretty butt ugly but, being the good mother that I am, I thanked them profusely. We were getting ready for church and one of the boys raced up to me with the beloved white earrings saying "mommy you forgot something". What's a mother to do? So I put the hideous earrings on. I walked into church avoiding making eye contact with others, hoping they wouldn't notice the earrings. As we were sitting quietly in church one of my boys tugged on my arm and smiled brightly up at me " you look beautiful today mommy, with those earrings on". Needless to say, I walked out of church that day with my head held high. My friend noticed my special earrings and said "your earrings are darling, I wonder who got those for you". What is MJ's legacy? Gossip sites have been going crazy for nearly 6 months with constant Michael Jackson coverage- everything from his finances to drug use to kids. How did his legacy switch from being a child abuser to the best artist of all time? People are ignoring all the negatives such as drug and child abuse and suddenly focusing on his music and influence! 'This Is It' on its way to $200 million-... Los Angeles Times --"Michael Jackson's swan song "This Is It" made up for a so-so start domestically by doing more than twice as much business overseas. The movie sold $32.5 million over its first five days in the U.S. and Canada and $68.5 million in 97 other countries... Everywhere it played, the best news for "This Is It" is that it didn't fall dramatically after a so-so start on Wednesday. Although many similar concert movies open big and fizzle fast, the Jackson film had a solid weekend compared with its Wednesday grosses. Domestic ticket sales were down less than 10% on Saturday, better than many in Hollywood had expected on Halloween and a sign of positive buzz. Now that Sony has, in a not-too-surprising move, extended the movie beyond a previously announced two-week run, the film will almost certainly gross more than $200 million worldwide. That would be a healthy performance given Sony's investment of $60 million for the rights to make the movie, plus a relatively modest marketing spend. 'This Is It' movie showcases Michael Jac... Los Angeles Times --The performer came to rehearsal in striking personal outfits put together with stylist Rushka Bergman. His designer-made tour costumes are not in the movie but will be shown on the DVD. In "Michael Jackson's This Is It," moviegoers will not see the elaborate costumes created for the tour that never was, bedazzled with 4 million Swarovski crystals and lighted up using LED technology. Those are on display at the O2 Arena in London, where the engagement had been scheduled to begin in July, and will go on to New York and Tokyo. But what they will see, in addition to tough and tender moments that humanize the pop singer, and one hell of a music and dance show, is an amazing array of designer outfits Jackson wore to rehearsals. A black leather, pagoda-sleeve jacket and a crystal-trimmed tuxedo are among pieces designed by the likes of Christophe Decarnin for Balmain, Kris Van Assche for Dior Homme and Tom Ford that speak to Jackson's renewed relevance in fashion circles and the changing relationship between music and fashion.
