Love Directv but could use less outages.

We have been customers of directv for several years now. There's way more channels than I can even imagine watching. The prices are decent and the service is reliable for the most part. It would be nice for it to stay on when it is cloudy. view more

Not a fan of Direct TV but I am a custom...

I am not a fan of Directv but I have been with them for the last 3 years, partially because I added a feature to my package and in order to do that I had to renew for another 2 years. Also, I have written in to them a few times regarding an anniversary gift they send to me each year which is a sports package.. but, I don't subscribe to any sports packages and it seems hard to keep them from sending me anything related to the sports channels because I'm not interested in it at all. view more

DirecTv & DirecPath

Where to begin... the Customer Service reps SUCK! They are rude and will not work with you on anything. If they want to make a sale, they should act like they care about you! I was forced to give up Comcast when the area I moved to only offered U-Verse and Direc. I don't have an OnDemand feature, and I hate not knowing the channel numbers. I just don't like it. AND they make you sign a 2 year service aggreement, only to raise the prices after 12 months. So stupid. Don't charge me more for being a loyal customer! I get my TV service, but that's it. Nothing more. view more

DirecTV has lousy services in Seattle

I was very disappointed with DirecTV poor technical services in Seattle. I made the contacts through online five times to have technician to come by at my place. My husband lost his sleep for waiting technician to show up and they never showed up five times. I decided to fire at DirecTV and changed to Dish Network. I found out DirecTV ripped us off and over charged us for breaking the contract. DirecTV should be put into the hell. I learned that DirecTV costed more than Dish Network. DirecTV has lousy DVR equipment that does not last longer. It is very lousy quality DVR. It was also wasted our time for waiting for technician to show up and he never showed up. I give an F to DirecTV and I give an A to Dish Network. view more

Good channel choices

We switched from Dish a couple of years ago, simply for price. Having gotten used to it, I enjoy the channel lineup more than Dish. I (and this is just personal preference) find the remotes and search features awkward. I've had no problems with them "sneaking" things onto my bill, our installation was fine, and the picture quality is great. The DVR leaves a little to be desired- make sure you understand what you're able to do with the receivers you have- the commercials are a little deceiving. view more

best price for tv

I have had directv for about a year now and am very satisified. I get a very good deal, half the price for more channels than I had with my local cable company. My only complaint is the price of the converter boxes and then still having to pay the monthly lease fees. view more

Very good satellite service.

I have been with DirecTV for over a year and a half and I like it. It is less expensive than cable and you get lots of channels. The only thing I wish could change is that you could choose the channels you wanted instead of being forced to get a more expensive tier to get the channels you actually watch. The signal is reliable in my area but I dont know about others, it only gets blurry or skips when it is very windy outside but even then it doesn't happen often. Another thing I dont like wich all cable and satellite providers do is have an introductory rate for the first 12 months but after it is more expensive. Why cant they just make the introductory price the regular price then more people would use their service. Anyways, I like my DirecTV service. view more

Bad. Just all around bad.

I was displeased from DirecTv from the start. No one showed up to install our services within the SIX hour window they gave me and when they finally did show up a week later, the tech was rude, messy and sneaky. He told my husband to sign a form that said that he'd been to our home and installed the service, which was really a two year service contract. DirecTv was always adding things to our bill, setting us up on services that we didn't ask for, and they are a bear to deal with when you call to find out why your bill is suddenly $200 more than usual. After dealing with Dish, Comcast and then these guys, I have come to the conclusion that ALL cable/satellite providers are terrible. We ended up getting out of the aforementioned contract and now we just use Netflix, Hulu and Redbox for our entertainment. I miss cable sometimes, but I will never miss the outrageous bill and the hassle that having it entailed. view more

Good quality

I have never had a problem with directv.. Not like I did with dish network.. I also get great reception. I love all the HD channels. They were also very prompt to come out to my house when my dish was not working correctly. Turned out is was warped so the installed a new dish and also gave me a new receiver. That was great! view more

Good Options

I grew up with DirecTV service (my family couldn't get cable due to the rural location we used to live in) and it was great. We had a huge variety of channel options though to be fair I don't know what my parents were paying. There was a large variety and that rental movie options were great (though I think there were actually better options when i was younger as opposed to currently).
The only real problem we ever had with them was losing satellite signal when it rained. view more

DirecTV Service

I was former DirecTV customer. I was not satisfied with their poor services and also they ripped poor deaf couple off. They charged us almost 600 dollars. Why did we have to pay for these stupid charges for their lousy services for not showing up 5 times and wasted our time from waiting. They were likely to give us lots of cobwebs from waiting for them. My husband lost his sleeping hours for waiting DirecTV technician to show up to replace DVR five times and they did not show up. I fired them and changed to Dish Network. I just found out that Dish Network is cheaper than DirecTV. I liked DirecTV TV selections to search the names of actors or actresses. Dish Network has best quality on DVR than DirecTV. view more

Another customer screwed by DTv

Wow, were we happy to come across a salesperson that told us we could save $30 a month - by switching to Directv. After listening to him and asking questions, we found out by saving $30 we would receive everything we had with Verizon Fios, and gain More - much more. Sad to see on installation day, the installer was an hour late, called and said it would be another hour - came in comploaining about how busy he was, left a mess after installation, when he was done, we asked to be shown how to use things, he pulled up a guide left us on the phone, only to find out he hooked up the wrong equipment, with us not knowing what the equipment was suppose to be - we were told we were SOL pretty much - finally talked to the owner, and he was going to pay to make things right by us - here we are 4 weeks later, and getting the run around. We are stuck in the contract - and hating every minute of it. DO NOT SWITCH _ RUNNNNN AWAY NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT SOUNDS. SPREAD THE WORD TOO. Paying $30 more for less channels, and less features. can't watch dvr in any other rooms etc. =( view more

Pleased with the service

We have had directv for 3 years now and for the most part we are happy with the service. They are usually willing to work with you when there is a problem and will sometimes resolve the issue without charging you a service call depending on the situation. The only bad thing is when you can't watch tv b/c the weather is bad and knocks out the dish service. That can be extremely frustrating. view more

I Got Screwed by DirecTV

I liked DirecTV as far as the quality of the service on my tv. But my husband lost his job and we got a little behind and our service got disconnected. Which I can understand, but that does not give DirecTV to take $668.00 out of my bank account without my permission. I now have a bank account that got closed and I am having to make payments to the bank because of all this. view more

Very good choice!

We have been loyal customers of DirecTV for about 10 years. We love it. They have the cheapest prices of all available satellite providers in our area, and the biggest selection of channels. The movie channels are usually bundled, so we get a great rate on those! I would definitely recommend to anyone! view more

Best Customer Service

I have been a loyal customer of DirecTv for 6+ years. We have tried Dish network and Digital Cable. With DISH Network the program would cut out everytime we had a storm, and the charge a fee anytime we wanted to change our programming(ie: removed channels that were fee for an introductory period). Was not happy with the customer service. With Directv our customer service experience has been great, and if have a storm our programming may be interrupted, but only briefly. view more

Love the channels, hate the customer ser...

I have had Directv for a few months and have been happy with the price, the channels and the equipment. I do lose service when it rains but that happened when I had Dish too.
I am paying $30 a month for whole home DVR, all the channels and in addition all the movie channels were thrown in for 3 months. I used rebates and referrals when signing up. I also received a $180 from Costco. So it was an awesome deal that was hard to pass up on.
The only problem I have is with the customer service (it is outsourced). Some speak little English and repeat the same things over and over, they love to put you on hold and try to sell you services you already have.
I was charged for a service I did not ask for so be careful and check your bills. It took me over 40 minutes of painful phone conversation and hold time to fix a bad charge, and was only credited when I asked to speak to a manager.
Overall I have had a positive experience with Directv, especially for the price. Way better than I ever had with Comcast..... ugh! view more

They try but not enough

I had Directv for 2 years and was looking to cancel my service over financial concerns. Calling customer service, they were very courteous and worked out a plan with me that gave me minimal service for $30 a month. I felt good about it at the time and felt like I was getting a good deal. Unfortunately I was far from right. A few months later I decided to look into DishNetwork and was shocked to see their packages. I was paying $30 a month for 50 channels on DirecTv but for only $10 more on Dish I could get well over 200 channels! The nearest package DirecTv had would cost me nearly $70. I can not figure out why DirecTv feels they're justified in charging so much more than their competitors. As of today I am a very satisfied customer of DishNetwork. view more

good service

I have been a customer for about 3 or 4 years. Ive never had an outage unles there was a blackout. where we live we have monsoons, hail, rain, extremme heat, extreme winds, thunder storms and i have NEVER had a problem. they are a bit pricey but way better than cox. The DVR is SIMPLE to use really. theres nothing to it. it is in fact very "user frindly". I call every 3 months and ask about their promotional deals. I usually have had some form of a premium channel and have never paid for it. just call and ask what specials they are offering for free premiums. when it expires, call them up again. view more

Directv isn't for me

When i moved into my home i needed to find a tv provider also offering a good price. I thought Directv was the way to go but during the installation they caused damages to my home and it took them ALMOST A YEAR to come out and do anything about it! And when they did, they cut me a check for the damages....they would not allow me to opt out of my contract without the $200 fee. So i had a private contractor come in to fix the damages and after the work was completed i was to have DTV come back out and install the cable properly. Well...Again it took over 3 months of calling to get someone out to my home to rewire the cable. He came, i told him the situation and he then tells me that he'd have to charge me because he has no paperwork of any damages on my account. What? They cut me a check to get them fixed so how did they have no record of it? He said he had to speak to his boss and have him call me or i could call him. I never recieved a call so i called him, spoke to him and he said yes i remember you i will call you back before weeks end to set up an appt time. I never heard from him again. I again called dtv customer service, spoke to a manager about the situation and he finally allowed me to get out of my 2yr contract with no fee. Directv Customer Service Department was great, the service from the provider as far as picture quality and channels great but the installation department i really have nothing good to say. view more

From Cable to Satellite

I've always been skeptical of satellite tv because I thought it was undependable and has intermittent signals. After years of having Time Warner Cable we switched over to Directv and I think I'm hooked. Their programming options are plentiful and their picture is so much clearer. Not to mention they offer more HD programming than anyone else. I also enjoy using their DVR much more than Time Warner's. Love it!!!

I also have been a customer for a long time. I have never been more happier with the service. You pick what you want and you only pay for what you want. There is no hidden fees or extra cost to pay. The service is just great when you have a problem and you don't know what happened, just call and they have it fix in no time. Best thing is every year on your anniversary date they give you Showtime or HBO etc for three months as a thank you. Also if you are a sports fan than you got to get DTV. Unexpected Thanks from DirecTV

We used to subscribe to Dish Network. After our receiver displayed a message telling us we were required to update our software, we accepted the upgrade. At that point, the hardware quit working. We called them, they wanted to bill us for a new receiver, so we switched to DirecTV. We have been thrilled with their service, we've NEVER had any problems with their hardware of software, and they surprised us with three months of a movie channel for free due to our customer loyalty. Whole Home DVR is a joke

I've been with Directv for about a year, have 3 HD recievers and 1 HD DVR. So when Directv annouced the whole home DVR option, which by the way sounds amazing, I was all in for it. They say that the equiptment needed is only that you have to have all HD recievers and an HD DVR, and you're good to go. I thought Good, I can get this for an extra 3 bucks a month right, cool!
Except, no. I call them and they tell me ok you have whole home DVR now, expect it to take about 10 minutes to program and you're good to go. Only 30 minutes later still nothing.
So we call back and after they already told us we were good, they say we are missing one little box behind our darn DVR that will make it all possible, but the little box is free of charge, so great.
Only not, it has to be professionally installed for $99. They can keep there Whole Home DVR!!!! view more

Annoyed - squirrely billing

We signed up for Directv about 6 months ago. The package came with free Starz and Showtime for 3 months. Well on the 4th month, they started charging for it. Ok, Fine. I called to cancel. They said they'd give it to me for another 3 months free and set it up to automatically discontinue at the end. Woohoo! What a great company, right? Weeeeel, at the same time they asked if I wanted HBO for $5/mo. I said, Yeah! That sounds great. I just checked my bills (because they automatically bill to my credit card and dont have the option of paper bills - shady in itself). Anyway, I checked my bills and they've been charging me $15/mo for HBO. Ok, I thought, simple error.
I emailed them and explained the problem - their response? Oh, that was a 2 for 1 deal with Cinemax. But you discontinued Cinemax on day 1 and therefore we aren't giving you the $11/mo credit. Really? I cancelled something that you were PAYING ME $11/mo to watch? That doesn't make any sense...
They REFUSED to remove the charges!! I am furious. view more

Loyal customer

I've been a DirecTV customer for over 3 years. I have 1 HD receiver and 2 standard receivers. I haven't really experienced any of the outage problems you used to hear about with satellite providers. If there's a really bad storm, I'll sometimes lose the HD channels, but can't remember ever having lost all channels for any period of time. Customer service is great as well - both on the installation/service provider side as well as via telephone. I've recently been rewarded as a long-term customer in good standing with a DVR upgrade and pretty substantial monthly discount for the next 12 months. Contrary to popular belief, they DO reward existing customers, you just have to call and ask. Don't plan to switch anytime soon! view more
