Tigi Curlesque Curls

I have very thick, long, naturally curly tresses that become tangled easily while washing. I started using TIGI Bed Head Moisture Maniac Conditioner a few weeks back and it has worked like a charm ever since. I start my routine by using TIGI Bed Head Moisture Maniac Shampoo and then work the conditioner in from roots to tip. I usually have to leave conditioner in for about ten minutes before combing through with a wide-tooth comb and rinsing. I have noticed with this conditioner that I only have to leave it in for a few minutes before I can comb it out. A bonus is that this conditioner is so easy to spread through hair, which isn't like most moisturizing conditioners that you have to use a lot of the product. Moisture Maniac does not weigh your hair down, leaves a beautiful shine and it's great for detangling too. If your hair is prone to being dry, like mine is, I recommend you coat it with some product such as Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum before using your hairdryer. My hair is like silk after blowing it out. Wonderful product and an amazing scent! view more

Frizz Free Diffusing

When I diffuse my hair I use Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk first on soaking wet hair and comb through. Then I scrunch in the Curl Defining gel cream and scrunch with a cotton T-shirt. After air drying, or plopping for 15-30 minutes, I spray on a heat protecting spray (I use and love Tresemme Thermal Creations) all over my curls and scrunch once more, but try not to touch again till all the way dry! You can diffuse upside down, or right side up, which ever way the wind blows, really just which ever way works best for you (I learned how to diffuse on you tube :). Try using low speed and heat settings which keeps your hair more in line and doesn?t fry it. Take a section at a time and gather it gently into the diffuser bringing it all the way to the root and hold for a few sections, then move on. I will diffuse for 5 minutes or so to define curl and start the drying process, and then leave it alone for 15 to dry naturaly(no touching). Then spray on more heat spray(no touching) and diffuse till dry.[ Im not kidding about the no touching thing either. I used to have out of control frizz because I touched and scrunched my hair while it was wet all the time. Do not make my mistake.] For extra humid/rainy days before drying the second time I take a very small amount(about a dime size for my just past the shoulder length hair) of Garnier?s Style Body Boost Volumizing Gel with Ginseng and scrunch that in evenly, separating and shaping a bit (the only exception to touching your hair) before spraying with Thermal Creations. The gel defines and gives a lot of body but does not leave your hair crunchy or stiff (if you do not use too much and distribute it well. Do not leave the heat on too long or you will over dry/fry your hair, not a good look for anyone. After a few minutes your hair should set itself, do not make the mistake of apply products right away after diffusing. It could be the difference between a good and a great hair day! Hope this helps :) view more

Learn to Love and Live with your Curls

I still can sometimes have problems with frizz and volume after going out for the day and I have yet to find anything that helps with that ? I hate seeing my beautiful curls fall limp and get frizzy after a few hours. Guess it?s back to the drawing board, I?d love any suggestions and to help out any one that needs it. I know living with curly hair is a struggle each and every day, but each day you work at it, it will get a little bit easier. I used to hate my curls, but now I see how unique they are and love them.
[All of the Garnier Fructis products I mentioned are water soluble, meaning that a nice long rinse with water and a co-wash will remove all the yucky stuff from your hair. This also means you can refresh your style the next day, or 2, with a spray bottle of water and a little bit of conditioner added.] view more

Learn to Love and Live with your curls

I co-wash with herbal esscense conditioner(I love all of them, they get my hair squeaky clean and smell amazing) but Wen is the best for frizzy hair if you can afford it, I cant :( But if you try Wen you may find you don?t need any product after washing (following the directions, they are quite literal) and putting just a bit more in your hair after rinsing. I would air dry or dry with a diffuser(using Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Spray, never use heat without it) and have perfect frizz free and defined curls with no gel, cream, spray, mousse or the like. Anyways, back to the co-washing, try it if you normally shampoo, it works great for me. I notice less frizz and hair fall-out while washing and detangling. But only co-wash if you use water soluble products, if not you need to use shampoo or else the product will build up in hair, not very fun.
After I condition I gently squeeze my hair to get some of the water out and then evenly distribute Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk. At this point I use a wide tooth comb to part my hair and comb back the hair behind my part (if you have fine hair this will give more body to your curls and will also evenly distribute your smoothing product). Before I only combed my hair in the shower, now I only do it a little when my hair is very wet out of the shower. Then I use Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Cream Gel and distribute in sections from root to tip, scrunching a bit after. I have long layers cut in my hair, the longest falls just under my shoulders curly (about 2 ½ inches longer straight) but I find with the Curl Sculpting Cream Gel I do not need to style each layer separately, as I would with other styling products, and I still get pretty and defined curls that fall nicely on top of each other.

Learn to Love and Live with your Curls!

I have struggled with my curls for a very long time. I hated them when I was younger so I would brush out my curls and blow dry straight and somehow deal with the bland, frizzy result. When I began high school I bought a straightner and added an hour to my morning routine, not fun. It wasn?t till my Junior year that I finally decided to embrace my curls and try to figure out just what to do(and not to do) to make my hair look as awesome as I feel. Needless to say, its been 5 years since and Im just now finally figuring out just what makes my hair tick.
I have hair that is very fine, but I have alot of it, and about 3 different curl patterns and oh and I forgot to mention, it gets frizzy very easily! I found out my hair wasn?t moisturized enough, so I asked my stylist (who has been cutting my hair all of my 22 years alive) and she suggested Joico K-Pak which comes w/ a deep conditioner&a reconstructor. She says to mix the 2 together and apply to damp hair after shampoo&rinse& leave in for 5-10 minutes. I use this once a week now that my hair is back in good condition. It may be pricey ($30 for the 2) but it?s a good splurge with the results it delivers. I also use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine 3 Minute Mask or Suave with Shea Butter. With fine, thin hair you still need moisture, but not too much or the hair will be weighed down. I found using these 3 different systems of conditioners works well to fully moisturize and condition my hair yet doesn?t weigh it down. I?ve even tried mixing different products together and using essential oils (rosehip seed oil works wonders if your hair isn?t too oily).

Curly Hair help.... Curly Sexy Hair prod...

I have fine, curly hair so I need products that aren't heavy. I find if you buy better products you get better results. Salons usually have good return policies. I really like the Sexy Hair line. I use the Spray Foam Curl Enhancer and then a little Curling Gel (or BedHead Curl Spray) to help control the frizz.

A mind of its own, but GORGEOUS!!!

I never used to embrace my natural curls, but now that I have the right long layers, I go curly most of the time! I really like Aveda's Be curly conditioner and garnier fructis cream gel! I just air dry -- too intimidated to try my diffuser. Any tips? view more

Jonh Frieda's products

I've done chemical straighting for over 6 years and just now I finally decided to let my curls come back to life. I have a hard time taking care of my hair, as I don't have too much time (or patiance) to use tons of products.
I've tried a bunch of different brands, but my favourite one is Jonh Frieda. I love the shampoo and conditioner, but my favourite one is the frizz ease spray for perfect curls.
I have fine hair, so it's hard to form a nice perfect curl. This spray gives my hair some texture (with out looking heavy or dirty).
My hair loves it :) view more

Sunsilk Cream Gel

I have curly hair and while I love my curls I never could find a product that worked. Everything I have tried left my curls hard or limp. I have been using the Sunsilk cream gel and I love it. The product leaves my hair so soft and bouncy, but at the same time keeps my curls in shape and best of all, no frizz. It's really cheap too, I get mine at Walmart which normally costs around three dollars, but it will last me a few months. I recommend trying it. view more

Curly hair

My hair was straight prior to the birth of my son. After my son was born my hair started to get curly......spiral curls. 22 years later my hair is still curly. Some days I love it other days not so much. The best shampoo/conditioner I ever used for curly hair was Finesse. Unfortunately Finesse no longer makes the shampoo or conditioner for curly hair. Still searching for a comparable product. view more

Limited Styles

Sometimes I love my curly hair, other times I want to shave my hair off. I've gone through three huge haircuts (which I later regretted) because I would get so tired of my hair. I barely even know how to style my hair. I put it in a ponytail everyday. It's too short and thick to wear down. It straightens really well, but it doesn't last long. Last time I cut my hair, I also straightened it and cut bangs, but when my hair was curly again, the bangs were messed up and I had to pin them back everyday. view more

A New Curly

Due to the humidity right now, my once wavy hair is now at its curliest. I use Pantene Styles Curls mousse at a 3 hold(on a scale from 1-5) when I just get out of the shower. Once my hair is about 1/3 dry, I spray Herbal Essences Tousle me Softly spray and I'm done. Much easier than using a straight iron every day :) view more
