Do not bank with Chase.

Chase bank is one of the worst banks in the country. They are thieves. I have NEVER had to pay a fee, but I read their letters and talk to others. One day I realized I had to have at least $500 be direct deposited into my account a month or else it cost me $20. Then I had to xfer at least $100 from checking to savings automaticaly or it would cost me $20. One day I realized I had never gotten a fee, but when they sent another ridiculous hoop I had to jump through I switched everything out and moved my whole family elsewhere. The are confusing customers into making mistakes to collect fees. view more

I would never have another credit card from this company again in my life. When I signed up for the card they asked for your home phone number. by the time i got my credit card I had dropped my home phone. when i tried to activate my card for my rewards it tried to send my pin to my home number which meant i wasnt able to get the pin. when i called customer service they gave me such a hard time that i told them to cancel it. they asked me security questions like what was my height. i asked what that had to do with anything and it was just such a run around i didnt want to do business with people like that. view more

Chase Credit Card

I have a Chase credit card and can not wait to get it paid off and cancel it. They will call and harrass you at all hours of the night. I pay my bill on time, but if I ever forget they will call the next day and immediantely start sending me hate mail. I am tired of dealing with this company. view more

long time customer

I have to say, I've been a long time customer of CHASE and was recently very disappointed to learn they are discontinuing their debit card rewards program. I really appreciated that I could earn points towards gift cards while not going into debt. I hope they reconsider! view more

I have had a Chase Checking account for almost five years now and I don't think that there any different from any other bank. They do offer you their Chase Rewards program which is nice, but like every other bank their just out to get your money. view more

One of the worst Mortgage companies out ...

This company is horrible, 3 years ago we tried to refinance our mortgage that they purchase from the bank we financed with, they said no. They then told us to become late then they would do a modification. My job reduced my income by 15% so we ended up getting 3 months behind, they not only lost the modification paper work 3 times, but denied us over a year after we started! One of the loan modification reps told me on the phone that the file said our house was undervalued and no modification was to be given, repossession was best for bank! I would not deal with this bank if you can avoid it! view more

The Best I've Had

I've seen plenty of the complaints here for Chase Bank, and I have to say that I have had a very different, very positive experience. I have been a banking customer of Chase for over 5 years, in addition to recently also having an auto finance account through them. I have either previously, or simultaneously, banked with 6 other banks and credit unions, some being local and some international companies, Chase is the best, most reasonable that I've found. Keeping in mind that all banks are in it to make money, I have found Chase to use some of the most ethical policies compared to many others. For instance, the method they use to re-order debits and credits to accounts almost always works in my favor. Within reason, they allow you to cover overdrafts as long deposits clear during the same business day (e.g. cash), and if you do overdraft, their fees are lower than most other banks I have dealt with. In addition, Chase is frequently at the forefront of offering new services. Simple things like ATMs that can take deposits without envelopes or deposit slips come in handy on the go. Also, tech-friendly features like offering account notifications by phone, email, text, and via their smartphone applications helps you stay on top of your account. These are all reasons why I continue to be a Chase customer. view more

Overall, I have been pleased with this company. The only two gripes I have at this time is all of the branches drive through services seem to be exceptionally long in the waiting time and they have no deposit/withdraw papers outside. You have to request them. view more

Chase is a horrible bank ? stay away!

I can not stand Chase Bank. I opened 2 accounts here because they were offering cash incentives to do so, but I am so unhappy with the service there I will be closing the accounts immediately. All this bank wants to do is sell you stuff. The day I opened the account I got 2 voicemails asking me to add services onto the accounts (services I had already told them while I was in the bank, only hours before, that I didn?t want). Now with the legal changes with Overdraft protection they send me some kind of communication (calls, email, regular mail) EVERYDAY asking me to sign up for overdraft ? even though I already filled out the form saying I don?t want it. How do I get removed from your list? I thought telling then I didn?t want it would be enough, apparently not. view more

Gets the job done!

I have to say, I have been very pleased with Chase's level of service since having to switch over after the WaMu merger. Their telephone bankers are always available and i never have to wait more than 5 minutes in cue. There are ATMs all over manhattan, which is nice, and overall I am very pleased! view more

Student Credit Card

As soon as I turned 18, I went and applied for my first credit card. Not so I could spend money whilly nilly, but so I could build up my credit. Chase had been the Bank I used for all my banking, so naturally this was where I went to get my card. They gave me a student credit card with an 800 dollar limit. Needless to say, when they approved me right then and there, I was thrilled. I was new to this whole credit card thing, and there was no time like the present to learn how to manage one. For a while, all was well. I bought stuff, and made my payments. Then when my husband and I moved out of state, we really needed the extra money. Now, there were a lot of extenuating circumstances that led us to that position. If you're in the army, you certainly know what I mean. When chase asked me why I wanted to raise the limit on my card, I told them the army had moved us out of state, we were transitioning into our first house, and could have really used the extra money, my answer was a stiff no way jose. After the first year, chase started charging their fees (as do most credit card companies) and i soon learned that they purposely made it so that whether or not i made the monthly payments or not, the finance charges and interest would cause the card to go over the limit, therefore causing Chase to charge me even MORE fees. I know now this is common among credit card companies to try to get more money out of you. So when I finally payed the card off, the balance was zero. When I attempted to close the card, lo and behold chase charged me interest for the previous balance on the card. it's fees left and right with this bank. Worst Banking experience of my life.

I have had experiences with 3 banks in my lifetime, Chase being the second out of those. My husband and I had a checking account, a car loan and a credit card through them for a couple of years. Worst banking experience of my life. I opened a checking account with the bank when we turned 18 because they had branches everywhere, and my best friend had an account with them. For a while, everything was hunky dory. Although my mother had taught me how to balance a check book, I found it easier to keep track of my spending online, and with my phone. Chase allows you to text and view your balance, which is pretty convenient. Problems started occurring when our account appeared to constantly be going negative. Whether it was for a debit card purchase that took days (or weeks) to clear, or some random fee chase decided to charge us, our account was constantly being over drawn. The account would over draft, often times by pennies, and we would swiftly be charged a 35 dollar over draft fee for every day that the account was overdrawn. Then another 45 dollar fee for using our card while the account was negative. Yes, at that time, Chase would allow you to swipe your debit card even if your account was negative. This became a HUGE problem when we moved to a different state where chase didn't even exist. There was absolutely no way for us to put money into our account if it was over drawn. It was infuriating. It was not just a once a month thing either. I was on the phone with chase at least once a week with that crap. Now, I know that you're thinking that we are simply irresponsibly with our money. (I was beginning to think the same thing) BUT, as soon as we switched to a different bank, all the over draft problems mysteriously stopped. Ugh. It was an absolute nightmare. Chase will nickel and dime you for every penny they think you have, and more. I was sincerely surprised when they didn't charge us a "closing your account" fee. view more
