New eBook on Key WOMMA Trends and Takeaways

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

If you’ve been wondering what you missed at the most recent WOMMA Summit, a new ebook captures the best of the event for you. WOMMA got together with NM Incite to analyze the social media discussions occurring during the event, and they tapped a handful of attendees for their opinions on the key takeaways.

Some of the stats included in the ebook are:

  • Most retweeted tweeters
  • Most buzzed about topics and brands
  • Most buzzed about speakers (includes our own Paul Hunter!)
  • Conversation volume by social media source

Commentary in the the ebook include articles from 14 attendees including Chris Laird of P&G Tremor, Deborah Holland of Publishers Clearing House, Joe Fairless of Mr Youth, and yours truly. I’ve got an article in there about scaling social through better measurement.

I think the ebook is a great idea and WOMMA did a nice job with it. You can download it free on their site at: http://womma.org/ebook/

Introducing the Voice of the Advocate Series with WOMMA

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

BzzAgent is excited to announce a new joint research project with WOMMA to help marketers understand brand advocates – the people who have tremendous influence over the way brands are perceived and discussed between friends in-person and in social media online.  Each quarter next year, a new “Voice of the Advocate” report will dive into different motivations, behaviors and actions of influential brand advocates.

Advocates are a unique breed of consumer and they think and act very differently from typical consumers. By gaining a better understanding of their opinions, attitudes and activities, marketers can improve their engagement and communications with these valuable people.

The advocates will come from BzzAgent’s network of 850,000 consumers who will be invited to participate in surveys throughout the year. To make sure we nail the topics brands care about most, we’ll take the lead from WOMMA’s Brands Council. Brand Council members represent top marketers from some of the biggest and most forward thinking consumer brands. They’ll shape the topics and issues marketers want to address and they’ll participate in an analysis of the results in the final report.

Some of the topics prioritized by the Brands Council include purchasing habits, generational preferences, multi-cultural analysis, and perceptions about the constantly evolving sites, social network features, and mobile apps that make up the social media landscape.

The key to any social marketing program is listening. These reports will amplify the voices of influential advocates to help brands understand what they can do to make marketing better for both brands and consumers.

Look for the first report from this series in February.

Headed Straight to the Summit

Monday, November 14th, 2011

The annual WOMMA Summit event is coming up this week in Las Vegas. BzzAgent’s a sponsor again this year so there will be a big group of us on-site to spread the word about combining social media and shopper marketing.

We are also leading a panel discussion on the topic during the conference. Malcolm Faulds, our SVP of Marketing, will be speaking about “Marketing’s Missing Link: Combining Shopper Marketing and Social Media” on Thursday the 17th with a few special guests.

Here’s the session:

Marketing’s Missing Link: Combining Shopper Marketing with Social Media

Shopper Marketing is the fastest growing communication segment in marketing. However, a consumer’s path to purchase often starts in social media where products are discussed and purchase decisions are considered long before ever stepping foot in a store. Most shopper marketing initiatives are unable to target customers in social media. In this session, you will learn the next wave in shopper marketing practices that combine what customers think, feel, and say online with what they actually do inside a store.

  • Malcolm Faulds, SVP Marketing, BzzAgent
  • Paul Hunter, CIO, dunnhumby
  • Melissa Crompton, Senior Brand Manager Lawry’s (McCormick & Company, Inc.)
  • Steve Nottingham, SVP Digital Practice Leader, MARS
  • Ken Cassar, NM Incite

If you can’t make the event, follow our tweets at @bzzagent. We’ll be tweeting and re-tweeting some of the most interesting discussions throughout the week.

Here’s more on the WOMMA Summit this year:

BzzAgent’s Sausage Fest at the School of WOM

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

WOMMA’s School of WOM event is next week in Chicago and it’s going to be one big sausage fest.  That’s because BzzAgent is throwing a party with some of the best tasting sausage, German beer and entertainment in the city.

If you are attending the School of WOM event, stick around the Swissotel after the sessions on the 10th for a taste of Oktoberfest in the spring. We’ll have hands-on sausage making demonstrations, a hopping beer hall, and just about all the German food you can eat.  Rumor has it there will even be a dancing exhibition that everyone will be tweeting about.

We aren’t just there for fun and games though – BzzAgent will also be leading an educational session with our friends from Symphony IRI.  The session, “The Naked Truth About Social Media ROI”, is an expansion of our popular ROI ebook.   J.P. Beauchamp, SVP, Consumer & Shopper Marketing at SymphonyIRI Group will join our own Malcolm Faulds and Steve McLaughlin for this new session on how CPG companies and large brands are using measurement practices like matched market testing and market mix modeling to measure social media sales.

Check out the event site and circle May 11th at 10:30 am on your agenda so you don’t miss this class.  Extra credit will be given to anyone showing up in their lederhosen from the party the night before.

Who says school can’t be this much fun?

(I was joking about the wolfpack speech, but the rest is true)

If you haven’t grabbed your copy of “The Naked Truth About Social Meida ROI” ebook Malcolm discusses in this video, you can get your own copy right now at http://u.bzz.com/roi
