Created by tigpooh1516First I think I had better tell you about my hair. It's longish, and pretty straight, except for the last 2 inches, which wave a little normally & frizz madly in humid weather. It is also extremely fine, and quite thin. The other thing with my hair is that as it gets longer, it gets drier. Actually, a similar thing is happening to my skin, as I get older, it gets drier. A conspiracy maybe? But I digress. I'm here to rave about Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Hair Treatment. This is my first Burt's product, and I want to know why we weren't introduced earlier. The first thing I noticed about this was the smell, a lovely, sweet but not sickly fragrance, most likely from the orange oil. And a welcome relief that was too, I am not a huge fan of the smell of avocado. The second was the texture, thick but not gluggy. The viscosity was excellent. The instructions are simple, you wet your hair, then work the Butter through, wait a bit, then wash as normal. I was surprised by how little I needed to work through my hair, which is about 1/3 of the way down my back. There was no residue after wash-out (which so many products leave behind), and my hair felt normal. That was a little disappointing, as most products I notice when my hair is still wet. In hindsight, that was a good sign. But when it dried, oh my! My hair was silky soft, tangle free (yes!) and oh, so nice smelling. This lasted for the full 48 hours til the next wash, which happened about an hour ago, and while the smell is gone, the manageability & shine are still excellent. This product is 99.25% natural, costs $9 USD for 4oz and gets my highest recommendation.

Created by tigpooh1516After trying the Blushing Crème, I decided to try the concealer. A cosmetic catastrophe left me concealer-less and on the lookout for a new concealer. I ordered this one direct from the website without seeing it in person first. Very risky in the cosmetic business, but I am glad that I accepted the risk. This crème is a little thick, but it hides ever so well. It is best applied with a concealer brush and blended with fingers. Or skip the brush completely and just use your fingers. The shade I chose was light and it works nice to hide imperfections and stays put after a light dusting of powder. It doesnâ??t look cakey or begin to crease either. My advice is to blend, blend, blend for a natural look. The product come packaged in a .11 oz silver compact with the Burtâ??s Bees winged insignia on the top. It is not oil-free for the acne prone and the ingredients list includes rosemary and cucumber extract. The price is a steal at $9 USD and it is available at www.burtsbees.com and other Burtâ??s Bees retailers such as Whole Foods. I am deducting one flower because of the oil, making this product not friendly to everyone. Still, for the price and ability of the product to work as itâ??s supposed to, it deserves a not too shabby 4 flowers.

Created by tigpooh1516urtâ??s Bees has always been my favorite line when it comes to natural products for skin and body, but this is the first time I am giving it a go for color cosmetics. I am a bit skeptical of natural cosmetics. I find the formulas to be lacking in potency and staying powder. I was quite surprised by the Wings of Love color cosmetics by Burtâ??s Bees. I must admit that this crème is very subtle and takes a bit of practice to apply properly, but the effect is quite pretty once achieved. I chose Enthusiasm a bright pink-rose. It is the darkest of the available shades, but the most subtle. It comes in a silver tin that closes with a secure click. The crème itself applies ever so light and gives the appearance of a natural, healthy, flush. It comes in four shades, Clarity, Enthusiasm, Courage, and Tenderness. It comes in a .11oz silver compact and sells for $9 USD at burtsbees.com. These items are also available for purchase at drugstore.com. It is not oil-free and can be a little greasy, so if you have oily skin, steer clear of this product. I have normal skin and find that the crème works well even over pressed or loose powder. It also lasts a fairly long time for a cream blush, another added plus. So if you like cream blushes and have been looking for something a bit more portable than blush sticks, look no further than Burtâ??s Bees. They offer more than just lip balm for us cosmetic junkies!

Created by tigpooh1516A few months ago, a favorite department store of mine was having a 50% off sale on Burt's Bees products. I have never been a big fan of this line as the scents and textures of some of the products I've tried never quite appealed to me, but how could I resist such a sale from this much raved about line. So, one of the products I bought was Burt's Bees famous Coconut Foot Creme. I really like the true and abundant coconut scent of this stuff. It's a rich scent and not overly sweet. It also carries a very slight Peppermint sniff. The texture is a thick, smooth, balm-like consistency, very similar to Kiehl's #1 Lip Balm, so it goes on quite slick and a little goes a long way. It feels very good upon slathering it on my feet and there is a slight tingling sensation that follows as well, probably due to the Peppermint Oil. This is one sensation I am not fond of and cannot always handle on my skin. So, because of this slight tingly feel, I only use this occasionally before bed-time or in the evenings with a pair of socks. Also, I'm not always too keen on having that extra-oily feel on my feet. I don't find it absorbs very well either for me, but I do like how smooth my tootsies are in the morning. Once I rinse it off in the shower, it really leaves the skin on my feet soft and supple. I do find that if I exfoliate the bottoms of my feet before applying this Foot Creme, that it has better ability to absorb as most creams, potions, and lotions do when applied on just exfoliated skin. Still it leaves quite a heavy slickness behind and so this is only for night-time and occasional use for moi. Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme is 99.70% natural and contains Vegetable Glycerin, Olive Oil, Oat Protein, Lanolin, Water, Coconut Oil, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Peppermint Oil, Rosemary Extract, and Fragrance. I don't think I will be going for seconds with this one. I prefer a really thick cream or thick butter for my feet and not so much a balm-like concoction. Also, the slight tingling makes it uncomfortable for me at times as well. But for those that love these sorts of textures for a foot treat and for those that enjoy a slight tingle and lovely coconut scent, give this one a go. Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme retails for $16.00 CAD or $9.00 USD for a 4 oz. tin tube. Burt's Bees products can be purchased online at www.burtsbees.com or www.burtsbees.ca. It's a good product and works well, just not one I'm too crazy about.

Created by tigpooh1516I'm actually not a big fan of coconut scents or coconut oil, so I only bought this Coconut Foot Creme because of all the manicurists raving about it in fashion magazines. True to its name, this foot cream by Burt's Bees has a strong coconut oil scent. After using this foot cream people will wonder if you've just been to the beach. Strong scent aside, this 99.70% natural "creme" actually feels quite emollient and protective. I can see why some might be tempted to slather this stuff on and leave feet soaking in it overnight. Oddly enough, this foot cream, chock full of oils such as olive oil, coconut oil and peppermint oil, soaks into skin without leaving a greasy residue. The consistency of this product isn't exactly what I would call creamy. It is more like, sorry to say, barely-solidified chicken grease. Gross, huh. Well, if it works, it works- no matter what the consistency is, right?. This stuff will indeed moisturize, soften and protect cuticles and rough skin. At US$9 per 4 ounce tube, I had expected a somewhat more pleasantly textured cream. Nevertheless, I can accept this "all-natural" consistency and focus on the efficacy of this product. I cannot, however, say that I am impressed by the packaging of this product. It comes in an aluminum squeeze tube that I simply detest. I accidently stepped on my tube of Coconut Foot Creme and from that day forward have had to worry about the cream oozing out every time I open the tube. What a pain! I'd definitely recommend that you try this product. You'll probably either love it or hate it, or perhaps you'll get caught wavering in between like me. I can't decide whether to toss this foot cream into the dark recesses of my closet or slather it on everynight wearing a nose plug!

Created by tigpooh1516After having heard of the wonders of tea tree oil, I decided to give it a try. On a Burt's Bees kick, I picked up the Herbal Blemish Stick hoping that it could deliver and because it was in such a portable package: a .30 oz glass tube with a small roller ball at one end for application. The smell is quite of strong and it reminds me of licorice, the black kind. Not being fond of black licorice, I set off to see if the product actually worked. I was willing to by-pass the scent because I love the applicator so much, but I can't get past the fact that it doesn't work as quickly as I had been lead to believe. That may be a result of it containing tea tree oil further down the ingredient's list, third to the last to be exact. I wanted to love this product so much and give it 5 flowers, but have to say that I don't and it only really deserves 3. I use it occasionally, but it does sting just a bit. Much easier than Joey New York Chin Breakout Relief to apply, but not as effective and with the first ingredient being alcohol it will most likely irritate the sensitive skinned. I purchased my little bottle for $8 USD from ibeauty.com. It is also available at Burtsbees.com and Drugstore.com.

Created by tigpooh1516I got 48 mosquito bites. My husband and I went to an outdoor theater to see a Shakespeare play. This place provides bug spray, they have spray cans of DEET poisonous bug repellant everywhere. But as that stuff is so very toxic, and as I had heard that natural insect repellants, such as lemongrass, lavender, garlic and citronella, could be as effective, I was eager to try this Burt's Bees Lemongrass Insect Lotion. This was an itchy mistake. I was supposed to be reviewing the play, but all I could think about was the scathing review I was going to write about the Lemongrass Insect Lotion. By the end of the first act, I had 48 mosquito bites. During the intermission, I went and sprayed myself down with the toxic stuff. I had no more problems with mosquitos, and I was able to enjoy the rest of the play. 48! I got this stuff at Whole Foods. I spent less than $5.00 for it. But I needn't have bothered with it, and neither should you.

Created by tigpooh1516Lip balm (tube) is another highly rated products from Burt's Bees. The name appears whenever there is vote for the favourite lip balm. As the lip balm is also included in the kit, I fell for it at the first time that I tried it. Though I don't have extremely dry, chapped, peeling lips, I am slightly picky about lip balm. My lips are ordinary: dryer in winter, and normal in summer. However, when wearing lipsticks, that would be another story. My lips have tendency to become dry, then chapped or peeled slightly if I wear some not-very-emollient lipsticks. Finding the lip balm that possesses continuous and lasting moisturizing effect without sliding off the lip color is very important to me. Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm comes in both tube and pot form and what I am reviewing in this part is the tube one. Like the other Bees product it is made mostly by natural ingredients, and this lip balm formulation include beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, vitamin E, lanolin, peppermint oil, and plant extracts of comfrey root and rosemary. Before the Burt's Bees, I have tried the Kiehls' which is a tad too oily and just slides off the lip colors, and the Nuxe lip balm which is nice and suitable as base for lipsticks but not emollient enough in harsh winter. I love Burt's Bees over these 2 famous lip balms. It contains mint so it feels so cool when applied - that could be very soothing for very dry weather. Though named as "wax", it is indeed not waxy yet not too oily. It leaves a thin coat of moisture over the lips that could be layered if desired. I would say the consistency reminds me of Neutrogena lip conditioner SPF 15, but the Bees one is thinner and less greasy. Tautness and soreness are soothed and alleviated by the cooling mint, leaving lips soft and smooth. I love applying lots and then gently blot away any excess before lipstick application. Not only does the lip color show up clear and true, the color also last with the lips remaining moisturized and soft all day. This lip balm is perfect for my liking, but I would not say it is perfect for the others too. For those with extremely dry, chapped and hurt lips, they may not appreciate this lip balm as it does not give extremely thick texture and may not offer supreme protective layer. However, for others, it would be great enough. This truly amazing lip conditioner costs only $2.5 USD for a standard lip balm tube. It is effective and affordable that everyone really should give it a try. There is another lip balm with sun protection called Lifeguard's Choice Weatherproofing Lip Balm available too. Created by tigpooh1516This is a product I keep coming back to. I have extremely dry hands and cuticles that are constantly peeling leaving me with hideous painful bleeding cracked hands. This is a small tin of a pale yellow grease that claims to be "a soothing blend of natural ingredients for intensive care of dry cuticles, chapped hands, and cracked or brittle nails." I've tried lots of other cuticle products, but this is one of the best. It smells pleasantly lemony, penetrates quickly, and moisturizes my extremely dry cuticles. The ingredients include sweet almond oil and beeswax. Despite all the oil, it never makes my hands or hair feel greasy. It is very affordable at $4.00 USD for .60 oz, and I recommend it. Created by tigpooh1516With my recent travels of which I am still enjoying, I was able to give this product a real go and am quite pleased with the results. We all know how horrible the recycled air can be on airplanes, but its even worse on a small prop plane which has been experiencing a/c difficulties. This was my dilemma and my skin was its target. I caught my reflection as I decided to check how my skin was behaving. The image back did not look too happy. My skin looked sallow, uneven, and completely miserable. As I looked in closer, I could have sworn that I saw a small tear escape from a lone pore and another waving a white flag. I had to act fast if I was going to save them all. Into my bag I plunged and retrieved my airplane survival kit which included a freshly stocked package of Pond's Facial Towelettes. They had to wait since I was in need of immediate attention. I spotted the silver top of the Burt's Bees Complexion Mist and grabbed it without hesitation. A few quick spritzes and my skin and I were breathing a sigh of relief. My skin was no longer tight and red, but calm and normal. A very refreshing treat indeed since by this time the plane was beginning to feel confined and musty. I had a pleasurable release as I was surrounded my a light lavendar scent and the other passengers grumbled in discomfort. I smiled as I returned the contents of my survival kit to my carry-on and applied my lipstick before the ding of the fasten seat-belts warning. I felt quite content with myself for making such a smart purchase, a well spent $6 USD. The ingredients list is also quite simple containing purified water, lavendar oil, bergamot oil, and cedar leaf oil. The Complexion Mist comes in 3 different formulas in a 4 oz. silver spray bottle. Lavendar for normal skin, grapefruit for oily or breakout prone skin, and chamomile for dry or sensitive skin. On your very next flight, don't forget your skin survival kit and definitely don't forget the Burt's Bees! Five Lavendar Flowers.

Created by tigpooh1516Baths are luxurious on their own, but with this wonderful additive itâ??s an even more fantastic treat. I look forward to the moments alone when I can soak in a tub and since Iâ??ve added this to my bath repertoire I now make more time for baths. It smells lightly of apricots and baby powder and doesnâ??t over-cloud my bath water as if Iâ??ve added pure milk. The fragrance is very subtle and not over-powering, as some bath additives tend to be. The powder comes packaged in the cutest glass milk jar and is sealed with an extra-tight cap to ensure against spills. The ingredients are simple and clean, nonfat dry milk, whole dry buttermilk, and fragrance. Thatâ??s all to the ingredients list and its what keeps this product 97.2% natural. It requires only 2-3 tablespoons to be added to warm bath water and takes a just a few seconds to dissolve. The jar contains 9 oz and is quite reasonably priced at $13.50 USD a bottle. That is the price I pay at my local health food store. I have seen the price range from $10.99 - $15.00. The bottle will easily last more than a year. Although it is marketed for babies, Iâ??m saving this little baby bee for myself when I need a break from my babies. It can be purchased in the bath & body section of most health food stores or online at burtsbees.com or drugstore.com.

Created by tigpooh1516Burt's Bees is a great line of bath and body care, makeup and such that is available at health food stores, grocery stores, and, incidentally the bookstore at the college I attend. I have had much luck with many of their products, and finally tried their famous beeswax lipbalm after a friend recommended it to me. This balm is available in a pot (to be applied with a finger)or in a tube; the one I'm reviewing being the latter, although as far as I know the formula is the same in both. After trying this for many months, I can certainly understand why this lip balm is so beloved! It is a wonderfully creamy, waxy balm with great staying power and a great ability to heal chapped lips, as well as prevent them. Best of all is the peppermint oil in this, which makes it so tingly and minty! The mint flavor in this is a great bonus for me, since I'm a big fan of mint, and the sensation of the pepperimint on my lips is cooling and soothing. For others, this mint may be too strong, so I don't think this would be the best for those with very sensitive lips. But if you do love a zesty flavor to your lip balms, this is the one for you! Burt's Bees has really found a winner with this combination of great, thick healing balm infused with a robust minty tingle. It has quickly become one of my absolute favorite lip balms. Besides being wonderful in texture and flavor, Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm is widely available and inexpensive (I paid $2.50USD for .15 oz, and do note that it is on sale right now for $1.99USD at drugstore.com). 5 flowers for a wonderful staple in my collection!

Created by tigpooh1516I'm absolutely lovin' this lipbalm! Even though it's made with beeswax, it doesn't impart an overly-waxy feel to my lips. It tingles mightly when first applied thanks to the peppermint oil it contains. It contains other good stuff too, like coconut oil, sunflower oil, vitamin E, lanolin (oops, sorry Jayme!), comfrey root extract and rosemary extract. It tastes and smells refreshingly minty and makes my pucker so soft and moisturized. This is a bit thick, so I prefer to use it at night (or upon removal of my Cover Girl Outlast, teehee!). Additionally, the tube is made of 50% recycled plastic which should make environmentalists happy! Head on over to drugstore.com to score on of these essential products, or check your local store for a Burt's Bees display. Definitely worth a try!
